SOPHIE LANE

Growing up in North Adams, Massachusetts, Canadian-American musician Sophie Lane was always inspired by the rich storytelling traditions of Appalachian folk. When Sophie moved to Montreal to pursue her BMus degree in Jazz Vocal Performance at McGill University, she combined her jazz studies with her love of folk music and theatre. In her final year of studies, Sophie workshopped and recorded a full-length album of original music, with a sound inspired in equal parts by folk artists like Indigo Girls and Rufus Wainwright and jazz titans Sarah Vaughan and Nina Simone. This album, Apple Orchard, is a study in healing, chronic illness, and acceptance of the unchangeable. It will be released in full in Fall 2026.

Sophie has performed at venues around North America and regularly graces Montreal stages with her solo project and her jazz-fusion band, ‘Something At The Bottom of the Lake.’ She can also be found in the Montreal burlesque and cabaret scene, solo or featured in Troupe Queer Magique, staying in touch with her theatrical roots.

PROFESSIR

Professir is the solo project of singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Shai Rotbard-Seelig. Fusing elements of pop, afrobeats and jazz to create a mesmerizing new sound, Professir hides layers of darkness and complexity under irresistibly catchy hooks. Inspirations are as diverse as the Toronto neighbourhood in which he was raised, ranging from Burna Boy to Bob Marley to BadBadNotGood. Live shows feature lush vocals and a funky horn section!

Professir performs with his all-star band: Duncan Hunter-Neale (trumpet), Ingrid Li (alto sax), Esteban Montaña Martinez (guitar), Devan Meisner (bass), and Tibao Leborgne (drums), all of whom also sing harmonies!
